Q & A with Dr. Archana Narayan

1. What drew you to medicine?

Having grown up in a family of doctors, medicine was always in my blood. At a young age, I enjoyed studying the sciences and learning how the human body works. It excited me how this knowledge could be applied to help people overcome illness and lead healthier lives.

2. What are your passions outside of work?

I have always had a passion for the art of dance (all forms—classical Indian dance and ballet to Latin, hip hop, modern, etc). Dance transcends age, gender, race and

3.What do you do to relax?

I love spending my free time with my husband and two young sons. Their laughter and energy is contagious! I also enjoy practicing yoga and being outdoors.

4. What makes North Texas Allergy and Asthma Associates special in your opinion?

In one word, caring. This practice takes great care of its patients and staff and that philosophy translates to excellent, state-of-the-art allergy and asthma care provided in a modern, friendly and patient-centered environment.

5. What do you enjoy most about being a doctor?

The most amazing and fulfilling thing about being a doctor is seeing my patient who was once debilitated by their condition, now leading a full and active life, as a result of the treatment plan that I helped advise and implement. As an allergist, I have been fortunate to witness these kinds of recoveries everyday.

I am a firm believer in patient education and participation as the key to improving symptoms and therapeutic success. I strive to treat my patients as I would like to be treated.

6. What is the best advice you have ever received?

As my childhood gymnastics coach used to say: “Do not pray for an easy life. Pray to be a strong person.”
